Q. I read that you don't, i got the David Attenborough (cant spell) 'life in cold blood' poster and it says that there isn't any lizards or frogs or anything in Ireland only one type of lizard. Is this true?

I'm interested in frogs, toads and lizards as pets. I know i will need a 10gal tank. Average Cost of a tank?
Q. Ine been looking at mostly small lizards that stay small, up to 7 inches or so. lizards im interseted at the moment with are: leopard geckos, anoles, swifts (emearald or pinkbelied), and crested gecko. thanks!

A. Hello; while I can't answer for anoles or swifts as I have never kept them; I really wouldn't keep a Leopard or a Crested in a tank smaller than a 20 gallon. While they can be housed in 10 gallons; it just seems rather cramped for a full grown adult. If you are interested in a species of gecko that would be fine in a 10 gallon its entire life; may I suggest a Viper Gecko? They are small, docile, hardy, interesting looking, and low maintenance. Here is a care sheet for them; in case you are interested: As far as the cost of various tanks; that really depends on where you get it and what comes with it. A 10 gallon with a locking lid at Petco should cost you about 35 dollars, and the 20 gallon longs with the same accessories for 60… [cont.]

How are salamanders, caecilians, and frogs and toads similar??????????
Q. How are salamanders, caecilians, and frogs and toads similar??
Asked by kayliewaylie357 - Wed Jun 4 00:05:35 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Of your list the caecilians are the least similar to any of the others. They are still amphibians but beyond that not much in common. They can lay eggs, or are able to develope the young within the body, just depends on the species. Some are able to excrete poisonous chemicals. So for the rest... Again, all are amphibians. All require similar conditions for survival and reproduction. All have simliar beginings and have similar diets. So enviroment - Moist with predictable pooling of water. Toads are more able to withstand arid climates but there are exceptions in all species. Whether a lake or a puddle, these guys all need standing water especially during breeding season. All rely on water to breed, except for caecilians. Eggs - All of… [cont.]
